Jakarta, 29 March 2023 – Responding to the high demand from industry and society for post-pandemic connectivity networks, Lintasarta, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) total solutions company, is targeting to expand fiber optic networks to 400 cities by 2023, from initially around 200 cities in the previous year. Not only that, the total result of adding fiber optic networks in 2023 is also targeted to reach nearly 16,000 kilometers in various regions in Indonesia.
“The survey results from the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) show that network users in Indonesia reached 215.63 million people in the 2022-2023 period. This number increased by 2.67% compared to the previous period. We see this as a positive trend in the growth of network users that must be supported, especially with many people still doing online activities,” said Arya Damar, President Director of Lintasarta.
This year’s massive network expansion is one of Lintasarta’s efforts to support the acceleration of network equity in Indonesia. One of them is through Lintasarta’s involvement in supporting connectivity in one of the KEK (Special Economic Zones) areas, namely Nongsa Batam. This effort is also in line with the government’s mission in preparing for the deployment of an additional 12,083 kilometers of optical fiber in 2024 to increase resilience and integrate national networks that are not connected, as well as international networks.
From the industry side, various companies are also predicted to be preparing network infrastructure to welcome 5G technology. In addition, several major events in Indonesia such as the ASEAN Summit require a large network.
“With this expansion target, we hope that our customers and the public will experience a significant increase in Lintasarta’s services. Especially, several areas that are developing into industrial cities, and areas that really need a network connection with high bandwidth and high quality,” added Arya.
The expansion of fiber optic coverage is expected to help accelerate the achievement of an even digital transformation in Indonesia through high-speed network access. This support is also part of the integrated Lintasarta solution, ranging from connectivity to other information technology solutions.
