Lintasarta restores network after Palu earthquake

Jakarta, October 2, 2018. Lintasarta recovers its services in the area of Palu, Donggala, and surrounding areas after being disturbed by a tsunami disaster and an earthquake measuring 7.4 magnitude that struck the area. On Monday (01/10) several number of services, especially the aviation, banking and internet network, have been successfully brought back to live and can be operated and reused by customers.

In addition, to assist with the ongoing disaster evacuation and handling process, Lintasarta together with the Ministry of Communication and Information through the Information Technology Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) provides internet services using satellite signal receiving antenna (VSAT) which can be used at the main post in Palu, Central Sulawesi. The service is expected to help media partners and people around the Disaster Post to facilitate better communication.

“Lintasarta improved its network which had broken down after the earthquake and tsunami that hit Palu and its surroundings, especially for very crucial locations,” Suci Andrini of Lintasarta’s Corporate Communication Manager said in Jakarta, Monday, October 1, 2018.

Suci explained, we immediately repaired the flight network at SIS Al-Jufrie Pearl Airport, ATMs in Palu city and also we installed internet networks using VSAT in disaster posts for communication needs.

In addition to the VSAT network from Lintasarta, the Ministry of Communication and Information through the Information Technology Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) also provides Portable Satellite and VSAT telephones in several other disaster post locations to support the coordination of disaster management and aid distribution at the evacuation post, Suci added.

An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter Scale (SR) shook the city of Palu and Donggala, on Friday (28/9) and followed by high tides of 2-6 meters at speeds of 200-400 km / hour. The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 10 kilometers and was 27 kilometers from Donggala, Central Sulawesi.
