Jakarta, 11 July 2023 – Lintasarta, a leading Information and Communication Technology (ICT) total solutions company in Indonesia and Intelsat, a provider of integrated satellite and terrestrial networks and in-flight connectivity (IFC), have collaborated to bring broadband connectivity to areas remote in Indonesia.
Through this collaboration, nearly 400 locations throughout Central and Western Indonesia including Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara have received broadband connectivity with the help of the collaboration between Intelsat and Lintasarta using cellular backhaul, which is the first time a cellular operator has reached this area.

Gaurav Kharod, Intelsat’s Regional Vice President in Asia Pacific, added that Indonesia’s unique topography makes satellite the best choice for telecommunication services. Integrating Intelsat satellites in a hybrid network solution proves to be the best real-world solution to provide national coverage for various population densities.

Indonesia, which has a large archipelago, faces the challenge of connecting its citizens who are spread across 6,000 islands inhabited by more than 500 districts and 80,000 villages. For this reason, it is hoped that this collaboration between Lintasarta and Intelsat can bridge the digital divide, provide important connectivity to remote areas, empower communities, and facilitate economic and social development.
